Dissertation - How to Achieve Carbon Neutral Buildings in Malaysia

This dissertation paper took almost a year to complete and I had to go through different stages and progress to get it done. It is a good thing that I had been given proper guidance throughout or else I would have difficulty doing it. Being a person that is concern for the environment, I had chosen "How to Achieve Carbon Neutral Buildings in Malaysia".

This research evaluates the current progress of Malaysia towards a “Carbon Neutral Building”. It considers the strategies that assist in moving towards a “Green Technology” such as strategies to reduce energy demand and recovery of total energy consumed. The research also explains carbon offsetting and how is it important in relation to carbon neutrality. In addition, the paper identifies the factors and policies to achieve Carbon Neutral Building. Along with the initiatives set out in the 10th Malaysia Plan, there are several policies and approach that had been introduced by the Government.

The paper concludes that it is possible to achieve carbon neutral buildings in Malaysia through strategies incorporating green technologies such as solar panels and urban forestry. Government policies and guides such as Green Building Index has a big role in achieving carbon neutrality However, the Government cannot be the sole factor for this movement towards carbon neutrality; the public also plays an important role which will be covered in this research.

Indeed, I am proud of my hard work and am extremely grateful to my supervisor, Mr.Leong that had helped me all the way.
